Job Summary

To work with the estimating department and project managers in the delivery of timely, accurate, and competitive computer generated estimates (Xactimate), to meet or exceed the estimating standards of the insurance companies that we work with.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess damaged properties and use computer aided estimating program (Xactimate) to produce estimates
  • Provides a detailed breakdown/analysis to Project Managers to aid in determining the extent of damage and provides estimate
  • Liaises with external stakeholders including but not limited to, suppliers, representatives from the insurance company and sub-trades
  • Make Project Managers aware of possible deficiencies in a timely manner


Education and Experience

  • Two to three years of experience in the construction industry
  • Valid BC Driver’s License and vehicle is required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of multiple trades including but not limited to plumbing, painting, carpentry, and roofing
  • Knowledge of internal water damage, fire damage and structural damage of properties
  • Knowledge of estimating, Xactimate or CAD software
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

Working Conditions

  • This position primarily reports out of the Coquitlam office or is directly dispatched to work sites. On occasion this role may be based in other branch offices.
  • Working conditions are typical office conditions including working in a cubicle in front of a computer 80% of the time, as well as driving to job sites to quote work 20% of the time
  • This position works on job sites mostly within the lower mainland area
  • Hours of work are Monday to Friday, flexible day-time shift which includes a half hour unpaid lunch break
  • Overtime may be required on a periodic basis
  • CSA footwear must be worn at all times when on job sites or in the warehouse
