Canstar Restorations is a full service restoration company with offices in Coquitlam, Surrey, Abbotsford, Whistler and soon-to-be South Vancouver. We help people by restoring buildings and possessions that have been damaged by fire and water. We currently have over 225 employees and take pride in being reputable for high quality work since 1985.

Position Overview

The incumbent is responsible for the strategic oversight of a team of Project Managers. Provides guidance, direction, support and mentorship to the PM’s to ensure new and on-going claims are completed efficiently, safely and in a profitable and timely manner. Director of Sales/Project Management is responsible for the general health and safety and inclusion of all project management support staff and third parties working on job sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coach, mentor, and direct PM’s to ensure they achieve expected results
  • Actively participate with the senior management team in strategic planning
  • Provide direction and guidance to PMs as it relates to marketing, obtaining and retaining business from new and existing clients
  • Liaison with HR on hiring, performance management, and strategic headcount planning for the PM teams
  • Liaison between Project managers and Senior Management
  • Participate in writing of RFPs for new business
  • Communicate with internal department managers on claims
  • Provide quality control and enforce file management for claims
  • Approve expenses, timecards and vacation coverage for PM staff
  • Implement general operational efficiencies within the PM teams as per company policies and procedures
  • Ensure PM’s are accountable and working within company guidelines and expectations in regard to KPI’s, compliance, and quality of work
  • Provide excellent customer service with both internal and external clients
  • Support and follow Canstar’s values which outlines the respect we have for one another and our customers
  • Ensure all relevant safety standards are followed according to Canstar and WorkSafe BC requirements
  • Comply with all Canstar’s policies and procedures and lead by example

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 8-10 years’ experience leading and developing a team of managers
  • 8-10 years’ experience with project management
  • Experience in disaster restoration contracting and structural repair a definite asset
  • Understanding of insurance claims as they relate to restoration
  • Excellent business management and developmental skills
  • Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application on client engagements

Working Conditions

  • Some travel will be required to job sites, client meetings and other branches/offices
  • Overtime as well as working early mornings, evenings and weekends may be required on a periodic basis
  • This position is not eligible for overtime
