of the most common cause of water damage to a home is broken washing
machine supply lines. Normal rubber hoses supplied with the new
machines break down over time. When they do, it is like someone
opening a faucet into your home. Up to 5 gallons per minute can
be quickly create a disastrous situation. Metal braided lines from
your local plumbing supply depot that cost only $15 to $20 can save
many of these situations. Even if they do spring a leak, they would
slow it down considerably. Some people shut off these taps when
they leave their house for any period of time but be sure to leave
a note on the washer so that the next user does not burn out the
machine.
